The Organization Continuum

Organization the Continuum
This is the Shadow side of Organization. The Dark Side.                                                                                                                                          This is where it ends, self destructs, is reborn, and begins again.

And then my Assistant rearranges it:

  1. I’m very organized at work, but probably because of that, I am not as organized at home. Mainly when it comes to papers. I just throw them in a pile… and never get back to them. Thanks for reminding me. I probably should sort through some and make more space.

  2. That little bit of plastic on the bottom – is what I learned from a Fred Pryor workshop.
Have inboxes (or in my case they have to be complete file containers) for Daily, Weekly, Monthly. When you do have to throw something on your pile put it in the appropriate box. That way the urgent items won’t get lost in the Could Wait for Later items.

I don’t even do Daily at home. I just have Weekly and Monthly and To File. Daily is stretching the laws of reality in my personal life.

At work I didn’t do Daily Weekly Monthly either. With my current job, I didn’t need that – but I did organize into my 2 biggest tasks – my newsletter and my board packets. And then the top rack is incoming. My current (or past job now i should say) wasn’t too demanding.

And you are welcome! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Good to know I am not the only one – even with my Pryor system – you see how it disintegrates into the “Throw Them In A Pile” method! They are still sitting here lol!!!!

  3. That s quite interesting. Someone once suggested having an organized box with separations for different types of mail. A great idea, but I am too impatient to do that. One pile, and then I go through it when I get the chance. Pre-sorting them takes too much extra time.
Maybe I should schedule a weekly document organizational hour. Just an hour, but be productive…

  4. set times are good. Pryor mentioned that too. For workdays but I think it would work well with personal weeks or months too.

  5. My aunt used to do it on Sundays. My life is too fluid for that much but I try to get to it on some regular basis…in this pic, it’s been months though lol Was just a bad month in april because of a family crisis and I am just now recovering my housework from that time.
