So 7 year old comes in the other day with this teeny tiny little leaf looking creature on his finger and wants to know what it is. So we look it up. I found the website referenced above and we found out it was a Katydid! All I did was google “bug that looks like a leaf.” I’ve seen these all my life and never knew what they were.

Found out its science name is “(Microcentrum rhombifolium).”
That ours was an adult, because the adults are green, the little ones have spots.
That they are related to grasshoppers and crickets and can jump because they have the same back legs. That they jump or fly away when they are scared. Ours jumped off 7’s finger when he showed him to me.
